For Figures Of Speech

They intersect
Like Dickens
Characters
Strolling down
The streets
Of old Paris

Foreign as poems
That don’t rhyme
Transcribed into
Their own ghosts
Damp and floating
Through faded

Scribbles slipped
In a napkin at
The table, too
Soaked to blow
Away and too
Wet to use
